Starting point: Hacienda Doña Isabel. A 4 hours nice tour driving a four wheeled 4x4 bike. Visit of a Mayan village, the home of the Chamán of Ejido Jacinto Pat and the most famous cenote of the state of Quintana Roo. You will ride deep into the jungle and discover the Cenote of DOS PALMAS. There you will be received by the family of Don Mariano Mazon, a very well known Shaman. TEMAZCALES (Ceremonies of Spiritual Purification) driven by D. Mariano take part every full moon inside of his property. The Cenote which gives its name to the place is the home of turtles and iguanas not concerned at all by human presence . In D. Mariano’s ranch you will have the opportunity of taking pictures of many jungle animals like jaguars, apes, snakes, tapirs, etc. As an option a harmless non blood cock fight can be watched. Do not miss the explanations of your tour leaders about Mayan jungle!! They will tell you about: The CHE-CHEN, a toxic tree which leaks a highly weeks-lasting skin ulcers. High quality artcrafts and furniture are manufactured with its wood. CHA-CA is the “doctor tree”, it cures the ulcers produced by the CHE-CHEN. “Chicle” -a mayan word for chewing gum, meaning “movement of the mouth”- is extracted from the CHICO ZAPOTE tree.
