YALKÚ A whole day in the Jungle

This a whole day Tour. Starting from the ATV's parking place, will croos the village of Akumal and get deep into the jungle to the RANCHO LAS CAVERNAS. We will see there  tropical fruit trees, enter in deep magic caverns with plenty of fresh and crystal clear waters where we can swimm. An old camp dedicated to the chicle (chewing gum) recolection whill show us the way in which old teams of itinerant "chicleros" crossed the Peninsula of Yucatán collecting that natural jungle resource. 

Down by the  sea, we'll get to Yalkú lagoon which is an underground river mouth which mixes it's fresh sweet waters with the Caribbean,  producing what is known as "termoclinization". Thousands of multi-colored fish and manta rays can be observedy while swimming at the lagoon.

From there we will ride to Rancho Dos Palmas, home of the shamán D. Mariano Mazón and his family and learn about ancient sacred Maya rituals and interact with some wild animals from the jungle like monkeys, sneaks, spiders, etc. Doña Javielita, wife of D. Mariano will cook typical food for us at noon.

Finally we will ride again to the cenote Dos Ojos where we will swimm and snorkel in one of the most famous and visited caverns of the area. See "Mayan Jungle Tour" for extra details
